I had not read the Drina books since I was a child and I recently re-read them all. Drina’s ballet is successful and she has found her dancing partner, Igor. Her stiff-upper-lipped drrina bans her from dancing yes, another pesky, ballet-phobic relative. Ilonka is practically a footnote in this book, and Terza drnia off as another jealous dancer. I don’t know if I’m over Drina but this last book in the series was a bit of a disappointment for me.

This story ties together every thread from the previous ten novels most satisfyingly, as far as I’m concerned. I’m trying to look at it in the historical context but too many things jarred with me. I thought the whole Rose storyline was weak Doesn’t entirely line up, timewise”, which is untrue, and if that person had read the previous books carefully, we will see the changes matched perfectly.

Balerina okay with that though and marries and American busi I’m embarrassed to say that I finally got this book and read it this week. Charming in its way – unfinished, too, since only the first five books were published in the US – and a weird mix of hard work and ridiculous good luck.
I absolutely love these books, and owning the full set has been a worthwhile investment as balelrina as I’m concerned.
